We were established in 1996; at that time Whitehaven had embarked upon a process of significant redevelopment, particularly around its old harbour which was moving from an industrial to a new tourism based economy.
The Whitehaven Harbour Youth Project (WHYP) was born with the help of European funding to ensure that the young people of the area had a stake in the development of their town. The WHYP was initially managed by individuals drawn from various statutory sectors.
We now provide a range of Personal Development Opportunities. These opportunities are made available through our outdoor activity provision, our work with schools and our youth club. We have recently moved to new premises near the Harbour and Whitehaven Town Centre.
Funding
